Pokie & Friends Rescue was born from both struggle and resilience. For founder Dilan Ramirez, the journey began during one of the darkest chapters of her life, In rescuing her first dog,
Pokie, she found not only companionship but a new sense of purpose. What started as saving one life quickly became a mission to create a refuge for countless others, and through that mission, Dilan discovered healing of her own.
From those early days, Dilan dedicated herself completely to the rescue.
She took on every role imaginable, from late-night calls to transport abandoned dogs, to coordinating medical care, to fundraising so that the animals would always have a second chance. Every adoption, every foster placement, and every saved life reaffirmed her belief that the bond between people and animals is powerful enough to change hearts and communities alike.
Today, Pokie & Friends has grown into a thriving rescue with a bold vision for the future. With support from The Avian Co, whose drone-powered storytelling shares these rescue stories with the world, the mission has become larger than ever before. Together, they are building a permanent sanctuary where dogs can find safety, medical care, and a path to forever homes, while also showing others what is possible when compassion is paired with action.
But the work is only beginning. To expand the sanctuary, reach more dogs in need, and continue telling the stories that inspire change, Dilan is seeking the support of those who believe in lasting impact.
